The ANSUL® R-102 system for fire suppression in restaurants is a pre-engineered automatic fire suppression system designed to protect areas associated with ventilation equipment, including hoods, ducts, chambers, and filters. The system also protects auxiliary fat extraction equipment and cooking equipment, such as fryers, pans, and stoves; vertical charcoal or chain-type grills; electric, lava stone-fired, wood-fired, or gas-fired Char Broil type grills; and wok-type pans. The system is especially suitable for use in restaurants, hospitals, day-care centers, hotels, schools, airports, and other similar facilities.
The R-102 system should only be used indoors or in locations that provide weather protection with tested temperature limits. The regulated release and tank assemblies must be mounted in an area where the air temperature does not fall below 0 °C (32 °F), nor exceed 54 °C (130 °F). The system must be designed and installed according to the guidelines in the UL/ULC Cataloged Systems Design, Installation, Recharging, and Maintenance Manual.
